In the midst of tall buildings and lavish apartments lies a heavenly abode in the heart of Mumbai called The Mumbai Zoo. Spread across 60 acres of land; the zoo is the permanent home to over 6600 trees and 270 animals of various species.
It was established in 1861, and today, this zoo has a variety of birds and animals, including the recently introduced penguins.
In recent years, hyenas, swamp deer, and tigers have also been brought to the park. Along with the animals, Byculla Zoo, also known as Rani Baug Zoo Mumbai, is popular for its fauna too. The place is an impressive botanical garden. Additionally, there also is a museum in the complex.
Challenge
Getting an online portal for all the commercial properties of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation is a challenge. The Mumbai Zoo has been in existence since 1861. It is a fan favourite for every Mumbaikar.
But paying a visit to the Mumbai Zoo was happening through offline modes. In the age of social media and AI, offline ticketing was still happening at the Mumbai Zoo. The zoo needed an online ticketing platform that helped the Mumbaikars book their visit to the iconic zoo.
Our Approach & Solution
It's 2022. The entire world is on the Internet. From clothes to food, you can literally buy anything you need off the Internet. This ease of getting things has reduced the number of people who actually go out, interact with people, and do offline shopping.
Very few people are fans of visiting a place physically and getting their work done. The “Millenials” and the “Gen Z” prefer the online way of things.
Considering the target audience, the 12Grids team designed and developed a simple and vibrant web design for online ticket booking at The Mumbai Zoo. The ticketing portal is simple and easy to navigate for any user- be it a college-going kid or a senior citizen.
The portal enables ticketing in four modes: Individual, Family, School, and Foreign Tourist.
Result & Impact
The online ticket booking platform for the Mumbai Zoo witnessed tremendous response. After the launch, the website saw over two lakh tickets being sold within the first four days.
Mumbai is always running at the speed of a rocket. The busy lives of Mumbaikars are proof of the fast-paced lives of the common man. Ensuring a digital route for the ticketing system at The Mumbai Zoo will eventually make life easy for all Mumbaikars.
Thanks to the new website, Mumbaikars can enjoy a wildlife adventure in the midst of Mumbai.
